The year in review:

2008 was a pretty great year for us, despite my IRA losing about 45% of is value in the last three months. Here are some of the Highlights:

1) I went from being Mr. The Bird Man to Dr. the Bird Man in May.

2) We (the family) moved from Missouri to Maryland...near the beach!

3) The Hot Librarian and I went to Hawaii for a 9 day vacation.

4) I learned that I have a problem with anger management and I need to make a consious effort to control my temper.

5) I got a sweet job.

6) The Hot Librarian got pregnant with our second baby.

7) The Demon Deacons became the Eagle Bank Bowl Champions!

8) I finally got an I-pod.

9) We sold our house in Missouri in only 5 days. (I say "we" but the hot librarian deserves all the credit)

10) I abandoned my long time Blog "Dis-Traction" and started this piece of shit blog.

11) A Democrat was elected President.

12) I shot a gun for the first time.

Yay!

I might compile a list of lowlights later, but I thought I'd start with the positives. Focusing on the positive is a good way to be less angry...or so I have read.

Today, over lunch, I shot a gun for the first time ever. I shot it about 25 times at flying disks of clay. It was ridiculously fun despite the cold temperatures. My Friend Jon took me to a shooting range and taught me how to shoot his shot gun. How to load it, how to aim it, and how to fire it. It was remarkably easy to fire the gun, no wonder these things are so dangerous! I successfully connected with 3 targets on 25 attempts. I think that is pretty good for a first try. I will definitely go back some time relatively soon and try again...the goal is to eventually work my way up to hunting actual edible ducks. I am not talking about the Wii ducks or peking duck, I am talking about ducks that fly through the air and try to evade your fast high pwowered projectiles.
