Another week, another awesome post.
- I have been listening to the new The Cut Ups album in recent days. I really like it. There seems to be far more effort and organization to this album compared to the 2005's "Hearts Kings Lies." They've got multiple tracks now! The music is reminiscent of Starlite Walker era Silver Jews (a comparison I doubt they'll mind if I make), or some B-sides of Pavement circa Slanted and Enchanted, with some late career Slicing Ginger thrown in (ok that is a jokey self aggrandizing comparison). The bottom line is that the Cuts Ups have put together a good album that you should check out.
- Hillary! WTF!?! Ok, I suppose she is better than Mitt Romney as Secretary of State.
- We are driving to New York tomorrow! We are hoping it takes less than 8 hours.

Thanks for all you've shown us, this is how we live
Sorry for the lack of posting. In the weeks before the election this blog became so politically focused that once the election was over and had turned out the way I wanted it to, I have had very little to complain about. Sure, I can't understand why Obama would pick Hillary Clinton as his Secretary of State, and I do have proposal on the table that Obama offer Joe Lieberman an Ambassadorship to Syria, but really I am finding it hard to get worked up about much in the national political scene. I literally exhaled and tuned out for a few days, plus ACC basketball is getting underway and that is far more important that Joe Lieberman's political future.

...and exhale...
I am so pleased with the outcome of the election. No surprise really right. I am glad Obama won, but I am even more please with how he won...overwhelmingly. He has a mandate to move forward with his agenda to begin healing our society.
Last night I felt a tremendous level of worry and stress about the future lifting. I fell like so much of the fear about my future, and my daughter's future has been replaced with hope and optimism.

Macro-Economics 101:
There is a McCain campaign adviser on MSNBC right now being interview by David Gregory and she has said twice [at least] that the job of the Government in economic times like these is to "do its part to cut spending and reduce the size of government." WTF? I took one Economics class in college. It covered all aspects of Econ and none of them particularly well. But I did learn one thing about macro-economics -- in times of economic contraction, aka a recession or worse a depression, the Government, to stimulate the economy and help to reverse the economic down turn, should grow and spend money like its going out of style. In fact the reason the government needs to spend money is because spending money is going out of style and consumers tend to hang on to cash because of fear and uncertainty about the economy. Last month consumer spending dropped by about 3%. Seriously its like the one central tenet of Marco economics, either the government, the only entity with the capacity to brazenly spend money in a recession, spends money to make up the gap created by reduced consumer and business spending, or the recession just runs its course and people loose their jobs and reduce their spending further, and then more people loose their jobs and reduce their spending further and before you know it every one is depressed and moving to California to find work as fruit pickers [and get gay married...but lets not get started on that].
So there you have it; several months ago John McCain admitted on Meet the Press that the Economy was not something that he knew a lot about -- military and foreign policy were his expertise -- and here, two days before the election he is proving that he hasn't bothered to learn a damn thing. What I am trying to say here is that McCain's stated policy will worsen the current recession and is the kind of thing that can lead to an economic depression. So unless you really think Grapes of Wrath was a good book and you wish you had occasion to eat more 'pones' don't vote for John McCain.
