Today, over lunch, I shot a gun for the first time ever. I shot it about 25 times at flying disks of clay. It was ridiculously fun despite the cold temperatures. My Friend Jon took me to a shooting range and taught me how to shoot his shot gun. How to load it, how to aim it, and how to fire it. It was remarkably easy to fire the gun, no wonder these things are so dangerous! I successfully connected with 3 targets on 25 attempts. I think that is pretty good for a first try. I will definitely go back some time relatively soon and try again...the goal is to eventually work my way up to hunting actual edible ducks. I am not talking about the Wii ducks or peking duck, I am talking about ducks that fly through the air and try to evade your fast high pwowered projectiles.

As a Dr. The Bird Man are you actually OK with duck hunting or are you being facetious?

I've never been duck hunting but I've done some informal clay shooting and it was a blast.

Yes I am actually ok with duck hunting. The system in place for managing mallard populations on the continental scale is really sophisticated and cool and the epitome of wildlife management science.

I am very much ok with using our resources responsibly. The hot librarian on the other hand does not want me to pursue this hunting and killing animals thing.
